Combat Sports MMA Safety Sparring Gloves are the most popular MMA training gloves for ground and pound training because training partners are not easily cut and bruised like from regulation MMA fight gloves (4 oz). Other secondary applications for these MMA training gloves include pad work and LIGHT stand-up sparring. Combat Sports International states that these MMA training gloves disperse shock just the same as standard size sparring gloves (16 oz) do. From testing these gloves, ourselves, they do disperse shock in order to minimize cuts and bruises inflicted on training partners, like 16 oz boxing gloves. Although, they still create hard impact, the power of which is in between that of a 4 oz MMA glove and a 16 oz boxing glove.
